After writing my previous post, I decided it may be an idea to give some instruction on FTP upload to Google Base, so here goes.
FTP is required if your file is between 20MB and 1GB. In order to use FTP you will require an unique username and password, this will not be your normal googlebase login details. If you do not currently have an FTP account you can create one through your Google Base account. Follow directional images below.
- Data_Feed
- At the right side of the page, under FTP uploading, click sign up.
- Enter a login and password for your FTP account and click Create FTP account.
- FTP Using Web Browser
- FTP Program Upload
- FTP Program Upload
After creating your account, it is very unlikely you will be able to proceed immediately as it can take time, sometimes several hours for your account to become active. Once your account is activated you can then proceed in any of the following ways.
Using a web browser - Open a browser window and insert the address - ftp://uploads.google.com
(Some people face problems using this method)
Enter your login details. You will then see a blank window where you simply drag your file into.
Using a FTP Program such as Core FTP – Configure your settings as displayed in image below with your username and password.
